Animal Diets

  • Carnivore - Carnivores are animals that specialize in eating meat.  Carnivores generally eat mammals, birds, reptiles or other creatures
  • Herbivore - Herbivores are animals that specialize in eating plants.  Herbivores generally eat leaves, grasses, bark, fruit and other plant matter.
  • Insectivore - Insectivores are animals that specialize in eating insects and other small animals without backbones, such as spiders, scorpions, worms and slugs.
  • Omnivore - Omnivores are animals that eat both meat and plants.  This means they can change their diet to eat available foods. 
  • Piscivore - Piscivores are animals that specialize in eating fish.  Piscivores generally eat fish but may eat other aquatic animals such as shrimp, crabs and clams.
